Favalora (heads the Archdiocese of Miami) said "The Haitians' release is not an immigration question; it's a question of human dignity and human rights." It is really time for us to stand up and demand fairness and equality. Now more than ever we must demand justice for all Haitians in the United States. One of our brothers is taking a stand by going on a hunger strike which is on its 14th day. His name is Henry Petit Homme and he needs all of our support as a community for his courageous sacrifice. "The Haitian community clearly wants to make sure they continue to be
heard, which is the reason why Homme continues to fast. "Equal rights,
Haitians deserve equal right," Homme continues to say in a weak, low
voice. According to Homme, he will take this as long as God allows him
to. He says, "It's not my call, it's God's."

From an email sent to me by a good friend: "The hunger strike by Henry Petit-Homme
is now on its 14th day. Many have come and shown their support through
visits, prayers, poetry, testimony. Others have come forward to the
church and held 1 and 3 day hunger strikes at the church with Henry.
Henry's ongoing hunger strike has garnered a vast and mass outcry as
the national and international community is again given more light onto
this subject. The media has been covering this the hunger strike
closely and a letter to President George Bush hand-delivered by Senator Kendrick Meek has raised the eyebrows of many.

As
it stands right now, Henry is experiencing some medical complications,
but he will not budge from his stance that the voice of the voiceless
must be heard and that the unfair policies regarding Haitian refugees
as well as the process of deporting long-standing non-criminal Haitians
who have been approved for residency be changed.

Please show your support by visiting the website and watching the videos. Kindly leave Henry a message/comment. Senator Kendrick Meek
and Representative Ronald Brizier along with FANM, Inc. President
Marleine Bastien came to visit Henry at the church where the hunger
strike is being held. The video, along with his mother's cries and
tears of desperation are heart-wrenching.

Please visit the Hunger Strike Website. Please view and forward
to all. In

        You can destroy my house
Steal my money
My clothes
And my shoes
Leave me naked in the middle of winter
But you cannot kill my dream
You cannot kill hope
You can shut my mouth
Throw me in prison
Keep my friends far from me
And sully my reputation
But you cannot kill my dream
You cannot kill hope
You can put out my eyes
And burst my eardrums
Cut off my arms and legs
Leave me naked in the middle of the road
Take pleasure in torturing me
Make me piss blood
